About Us

We built the play space we wished existed when we became parents — calm for adults, magical for kids.

Why we built House of Wonder

Most family spaces aren't built for parents or caregivers. They're loud, chaotic, and designed around kids only.

We wanted something smarter. A space where children (0–6) get meaningful, independent play — and parents get a calm, Scandinavian cafe where they can actually relax, work, or breathe for a minute.

A space designed with intention

The entire layout, from the Zones of Play to the lighting and materials, is intentional: kids stay engaged, parents stay sane. Clear sight lines mean you can sit with your coffee and always see your child.

Our first location opened in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, and quickly became a go-to spot for families who wanted something better than the typical play space. Nothing gimmicky. Just a well-designed environment that works.

Founded by parents, for parents

House of Wonder was created by Cathrine and Christian — two entrepreneurs and parents who have worked together for over 15 years. Before House of Wonder, they built several technology companies and a MICHELIN Key hotel.

When they became parents, they saw firsthand how few spaces existed that truly worked for both kids and adults. House of Wonder is their answer to that gap — bringing Scandinavian design principles and hospitality standards to the family play space.
